Credit Counselor Profiles

Shawn M. Mamasis has been practicing law in Houston since 1993.  He attended undergraduate college at Bowling Green University, in Ohio, with a Pre-Law major, and a Management Information Systems minor.  Subsequently, he attended Thurgood Marshall School of Law, graduating with honors, Summa Cum Laude.   During law school, he was employed as an intern with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, and with the First Court of Appeals in Houston.  As well, during law school, he was a member of the Moot Court teams, Mock Trial Teams, and a Member of the Board of Advocates, and held an Editor Position on Law Review.

Prior to entering law school, Mr. Mamasis obtained a diverse business background.  First, as a partner in an insurance agency, wherein he handled all lines of Property and Casualty, and Life and Health insurance products.  Shortly thereafter, he also was the Director of Sales, Manufacturing, and Engineering for an OEM manufacturer of gas appliance products.  After law school graduation, he began practicing civil insurance defense work as well as contract, construction and construction defects, commercial law, personal injury, family law, products liability, wrongful death, insurance, business formation and sales, and many other additional areas of law. Mr. Mamasis has experience in arbitration matters, mediation, and trial experience in the Texas state courts, representing individuals and business clients on both sides of the docket.
